SAT Test Prep Teacher

The Bridge2Rwanda Scholars Program is seeking a high capacity, enthusiastic individual to join our teaching staff in Kigali, Rwanda. The position is full-time for 6 months starting this July and has significant potential of growing into a full-time teaching position with a renewable contract after December 2021. This position can also be offered as part-time, depending on the candidate.


About the Role
  • Teaching SAT and TOEFL courses with a primary focus on the Bridge2Rwanda Scholars Program, a 7-month intensive university preparation program for 20+ of Rwanda and East Africa’s brightest students
  • Test preparation for our partner organizations and other programs offered by B2R. Some of these classes may be held in the evenings or on Saturdays. Based on the capacity of the candidate and interest from partner organizations, a possible extension of the contract time could be offered
  • At the latest, the candidate will begin teaching this July. Position is available to begin any time after April 15, 2021
  • Travel expenses may be covered depending on the home country of the successful applicant



Qualifications and Competencies 
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 1 full year of teaching experience preferred
  • Kaplan Certification (KCEP) or other recognized standardized test prep certification for GRE, SAT, and TOEFL required (or willingness to be sponsored by B2R and become certified)
  • TESOL certification a plus
  • Experience living overseas, preferred
  • Facility working in a small and growing organization
  • Ability to partner with College Counseling, Career Development, and Scholar Development Team Leaders
  • Ability to assess student needs, plan lessons independently, select appropriate materials and diagnostic tools, and develop assessments
  • Ability to work independently
  • Administrative skills: leading meetings and check-ins, working with other departments, scheduling, documentation, data collection of assessments
  • Advanced organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter, independent – skilled in organizing, prioritizing and time management
  • Possesses technology competence
  • Desire to work in a tight, family atmosphere


Start Date: June 1, 2021, or sooner if the selected candidate is available.

Salary: $1,000 net/month full-time or negotiated rate for part-time depending on time commitment
